Nitrazepam- induced Visual Hallucinations and Cerebellar atrophy in an 81-year-old man: a case report

Visual hallucinations and cerebellar atrophy are rare but potentially severe side effects of long-term benzodiazepine use. We report the case of an 81-year-old man with chronic use of nitrazepam who developed persistent visual hallucinations and was found to have cerebellar atrophy on neuroimaging. This case highlights the neuropsychiatric and structural consequences of prolonged benzodiazepine use in the elderly and underscores the importance of regular medication reviews in this population.
